Help Us Make Corley Mill Road Safer and Better!
Corley Mill Road goes from North Lake Drive near the dam to Sunset Boulevard. We want to make it better and safer, and we need your help. The Central Midlands Council Of Governments (CMCOG) is studying how to improve the road.
Here’s what they’re doing, according to (Central Midlands.org) ‘s webpage on the study.
- Assessing Current Conditions: Looking at how the road is now and any new plans for it.
- Evaluating Safety and Traffic: Checking how safe the road is and how much traffic there is.
- Gathering Community Feedback: Asking people what they think and want for the road.
- Exploring Improvement Options: Thinking of different ways to make the road better.
- Creating a Feasibility Report: Writing a report with their ideas on what to do.
Currently, we are about 2 years away from finishing the report. We had the first meeting on August 1st, but CMCOG still wants to hear from Lexington people through a survey. You can find the survey ( HERE ) Changes will happen no matter what, even if we keep the road looking nice. It’s just a matter of how we will make those changes. There will be another meeting this winter.

Since 2019 Corley Mill Road has experienced more than 400 crashes involving property damage, 70 with injuries, and one fatality.
Looking ahead, CMCOG will also study two more roads in the coming years: North Lake Drive and a road in western Lexington.
